The article is devoted to the method development for determining the effect of the gap between the generators of the conveyor rollers and the distance from the vertical axis of rotation of the conveyor rollers to the edge of the knife blade with an arc-shaped cross section on the total value. Particular attention in the design of longitudinal cutting machines requires processing with a fixed knife blade, namely its geometry. The main part of the technological process of shoe materials longitudinal cutting is the interaction of the working parts of the machine, namely the transport rollers and the knife blade with the material of the part, which affects the energy costs of the process. To determine the total amount of losses during longitudinal cutting of the material and the amount of friction losses of the material on the face of a fixed knife with an arc-shaped cross section, as well as the linear cutting force, a two-factor experiment was performed for the study model. The obtained regression equations describe the total amount of losses during longitudinal cutting of the material and the amount of friction losses of the material on the face of a stationary knife with an arc-shaped cross section, allow us to talk about the adequacy of the analytical model. Comparison of the total values of losses during longitudinal cutting of the material of the knife with one-sided sharpening and a knife with an arc-shaped cross section, allows us to talk about the feasibility of using a knife with an arc-shaped cross section.
