The article proves the importance of the impact of the digital economy on the development of organizations and the relevance of the introduction of digital technologies, which is confirmed by the ranking of the most expensive companies in the world. An analysis of the concept of “digital economy” as an economic category was conducted by the author. The digital economy is one of the main trends of the twenty-first century. Extremely rapid development of technologies and the introduction of artificial intelligence in almost all spheres of society cause transformation processes not only in production processes but also in management. The ranking of the most expensive companies in the world demonstrates the transition to the “digital age”, and major market players invest in such prospects. Despite the different approaches to the interpretation of basic concepts in the digital economy, most scientists state the irreversible changes and the presence of transformations in almost all aspects and segments of business. Organizational changes are an integral part of the activities of organizations, which determine not only the peculiarities of their functioning, but also are the key to their survival and development. The implementation of organizational changes in the digital economy has its own specific features caused by the need to use advanced technologies. A higher level of technologies requires a review of management processes in order to implement effective changes. The author’s definition of digital economy was offered in the article. Thus, the digital economy is a consequence of the transformation of other types of economy that preceded its development. That is, the digital economy is a kind of symbiosis of the knowledge economy and globalization processes, which have become the impetus for the development of digital transformations in absolutely all spheres. The digital economy has a complex structure and includes the IT sector, manufacturing and \/ or marketing of products using information-communication technologies\u00a0 and related services. Digitization of almost all aspects of human life causes the transformation of the processes of development of organizations and requires a new vision of instrumental support of such processes.
