The article is devoted to an urgent problem \u2013 the formation and provision of enterprises with production resources. The scientific and theoretical significance of a clear understanding of resources and factors for production is highlighted. The main task is to generalize the provisions of economic theory on the essential characteristics of production resources, their limitation, which are not due to any physical properties of the goods themselves.
\nThe purpose of the article is to summarize the main provisions of economic theory on the essential characteristics of production resources, their classification and use of the term “factors of production” in solving the problem of limited resources in the economy of agricultural and agro-industrial enterprises.
\nLimited resources include those goods for which demand currently exceeds supply, classify production resources from the standpoint of the form and duration of their participation in economic activities, in terms of object and subject, and schematically describe land, labor and capital. The dissimilarity of the concepts “production resources” and “factors of production” is considered. The latter are only part of the production resources that participate in this cycle and in a certain period of time.
\nThe structure of production factors is presented from the standpoint of material carriers. Emphasis is placed on the fact that, along with land, labor and capital, management is not the fourth factor of production, but only the main component of human capital. Scientific research has made it possible to determine that outside the labor process, only a potential employee can take place, but not a personal factor of production. It is proved that the factors of production at the enterprise must be in a certain qualitative correspondence and the correct quantitative ratios. It is established that the limitation of production resources means that their stock is less than the need for these resources. If resources are limited, absolutely or relatively, then needs have no limits.
\nThe generalization of scientific and theoretical approaches to the use of production resources, factors of production, limited resources and the problem of their choice led to the conclusion that companies should improve product quality, reduce resource losses and best meet the needs of consumers.
