It is the factors of the market environment that have a significant impact on the success of the operation, financial condition, production and economic activities. It is determined that an important task for the mechanical engineering industry is to constantly increase the efficiency of development, which is possible by taking into account the factors of influence, updating wornout equipment, mechanization of production, establishment of production and economic activities. It is substantiated that enterprises must adapt to changing environmental conditions, improve the management system. To a large extent, the efficiency of enterprises depends on the level of competitiveness, which determines the market position, rational use of resources, image, economic activity, profitability, product quality, range, service. It is established that to improve the efficiency of enterprises it is necessary to increase competitiveness, which is possible on the basis of the use of methods, management tools, effective, informed decisions, coordinated work of structural units. The growth of competitiveness of mechanical engineering can be evidenced by the steady growth of output, sales, expansion of markets, profitability of operating activities, the dynamics of net profit, cost reduction. The main indicators of activity of the machine-building industry of Ukraine for determination of their competitive positions are investigated. Problems of mechanical engineering functioning are formed and ways of improvement of work, directions of improvement of a situation in the market, strengthening of competitive positions are offered. It is established that the growth of mechanical engineering performance in Ukraine is evidence of a sufficient level of competitiveness, effective development strategy, timely study of the variability of environmental factors.<\/p>\n
