A strategic resource for the progressive development of any country in the world and increase its competitiveness in world markets is human capital, which needs social support, including a properly organized health care system, financial support of the latter for our country is one of the most pressing problems today. The solution to this problem is directly related to the problems of macro-financial stabilization and economic growth and concerns the whole society.
\nIn most developed countries, the financing of the medical sector is based mainly on insurance principles, which ensure constant and free access of the population to quality medical services. In Ukraine, the transition to insurance medicine has been delayed for decades. The implemented health care reform also does not provide for the insurance principle of raising funds to finance the health care system.
\nCreating favorable conditions for the development of health insurance in Ukraine, given its social orientation, requires in-depth theoretical research and scientific and practical recommendations, which can be an important factor in using the powerful potential of insurance in solving problems of financial security of the domestic health sector. The article considers the theoretical foundations of health insurance and substantiates practical recommendations for increasing its role in the health care system in the digital economy. The scientific argumentation and systematization of directions and factors of influence of information flows on the health care system are formulated. The view of health insurance is substantiated not only as a method of insurance protection of citizens against the risks of health loss, but also as one of the most important sources of funding for national health care systems in the world. Medical insurance service is defined as a determinant of health insurance development in the context of strengthening its role in the financial provision of health care in Ukraine.
