The aim of the study was to analyze the development trends of the external environment of agro-industrial enterprises as determinants of optimization of their structural parameters based on the formation of vertically integrated associations. The concept of supply chain management has been chosen as a methodological basis for the study of the external environment of agricultural production entities. This allowed us to distinguish segments of previous (agricultural engineering, chemical industry, biochemistry) and subsequent (food industry, light industry) activities in the structure of the external environment. The focal element in this structure is the agricultural enterprise. The peculiarities of the development of the logistics and infrastructure industry as a unit that provides links between the elements of the supply chain of agricultural products are revealed.
\nConsolidation of capital in integrated formations of mainly vertical type, combining different stages of production and sale of agricultural products (from growing raw materials to processing, storage and sale of finished products) within a single property, is considered as the dominant trend of transformation of structural parameters of agribusiness entities. Trends in integration processes are illustrated by examples of diversification of the Top 10 agricultural holdings in Ukraine.
\nThe conclusion about positive consequences of functioning of vertically integrated structures which is realized in the following directions is received: elimination of price disproportions between spheres of delivery of agricultural production to the final consumer; harmonization of material flow in the framework of logistics processes – from providing production with objects and means of labor to the optimization of sales channels of finished products as a result of the inclusion of relevant components in the structure of the production process.
