The process of globalization and its impact on socio-economic development are characterized. The need to provide these processes with social orientation has been proved. The structure of social protection of the population is shown and characterized. The social essence of social security in the conditions of globalization is determined. Some features of the system of socialpro tection and social insurance in some countries are shown. The dynamics of the share of expenditures of the state budget of Ukraine on social protection and social security in GDP over the last eight years is analyzed. In the conditions of globalization, the urgency of the restoration of social justice, protection of the most vulnerable sections of the population, timely and complete financial support of all social payments and programs has been proved. The expenditures of the social protection fund for social security of the population of Ukraine in 2019 are analysed by regions. The current state of social protection of the population of Ukraine is characterized. The key obstacles to the formation of an effective social security system in our country in the context of globalization have been identified, namely: lack of proper and systematic public administration on social security issues; inconsistency of the decentralization strategy; lack of proper and systematic legal regulation of relations on state social security;m ismatch between certain types of social protection subsistence level; lack of mechanisms for informational and legal work on issues of state social protection; the complexity of mechanisms for the implementation, guarantee and legal protection of rights in state social protection; complexity of mechanisms of state supervision and public control, etc. The features of social security in the conditions of globalization of the economic area are highlighted. The directions of improving the functioning of the social security system in Ukraine are outlined.<\/p>\n
