The unprecedented explosion of global value networks with a subsequent creation of mega-regional unions makes researchers guessing on the points in common between these two phenomena. Despite various papers devoted to the issues, the mutual impact of the operation of megaregionals and GVN is very poorly discovered in current research. The current study is dedicated to the exploration of theoretical grounds of GVN and mega-regional unions\u2019 relations, namely economic modelling. Thus, the article gives a critical overview of the aspects of economic and mathematical modelling of the causes and consequences of countries’ participation in global value creation networks and mega-regional unions. It has been shown that the majority of works is based on the so-called CGE models, that model the consequences of the respective integration processes. The most frequently used dependent variables are FDI inflows, exports of goods and services, including its nomenclature; the independent variables are relative prices, exchange rates, economic growth, etc. Both bilateral flows between countries and general macroeconomic indicators of country\u2019s development are taken into consideration. In general, it could be concluded that there is a consensus on mega-regional agreements contributing to the functioning of global value networks. This hypothesis could be tested with the use of previous findings.<\/p>\n
