This paper describes in detail the application of decision theory for event comparison problems, which will be a component of the time management software package. The paper presents the definition of basic concepts of decision making. The main aspects influencing decision-making are studied: the degree of risk, time for the decision-making process, personal qualities, team support, organization \/ company policy. The stages of making dynamic decisions are presented. An analysis of decision-making models was performed, during which three models were considered: behavioral; classical; irrational. Their characteristics were briefly presented and the classical model was chosen as optimal for comparison problems. The stages of making managerial decisions are demonstrated: problem formulation, construction of a “decision tree”, assessment of the probability of possible states, determination of ideal results for each alternative, problem solving. A generalized approach is presented, which allows to reduce the number of calculations in the algorithms of decision trees related to the type of complete search of options \/ alternatives. The comparison of the two formulations is analyzed in detail, because any number of alternatives can be reduced to them by sequential searches or comparisons. The mathematical model of the problem of the decisions made in the conditions of certainty at a numerical estimation of consequences is a problem of optimization of function which is set on set of alternatives. The paper also describes the approach on which the “cost – efficiency” method is based and demonstrates variants of this approach. The table of decision-making in the conditions of risk with representation of mathematical expectation of usefulness of alternatives is shown. The development of the decision-making service module for the tasks of comparing events with the given example of software implementation of the decision-making process is performed. The example shows an image of two screens: on the first part of the input of information about alternatives, and on the other one of the options for presenting the results.
