The main objective is to develop methodological foundations of integrated assessment of knowledge management and to use them for certain types of economic activity (businesses) in Ukraine. The author of the study has used the following research methods: analysis and synthesis (while investigating existing approaches to defining knowledge management components and methods); compilation and systematisation (while justifying the list of indicators for the evaluation of knowledge management); statistical analysis (while forming baseline data for the calculations within the framework of the integrated assessment of knowledge management by certain types of economic activity in Ukraine); taxonomic analysis (while making a simulation of integrated assessment of knowledge management); comparison (while analysing the level of knowledge management by types of economic activity in Ukraine). The author has improved methodological principles of knowledge management assessment, which is based on the calculation of an integrated assessment using a taxonomic indicator of the development level of the system. Unlike existing approaches, the methodological principles that have been substantiated in the paper contain indicators according to the recognised components of knowledge management with conditional division into three groups: information technology, staff development, intangible assets. The use of the suggested simulation method allows an integrated assessment and quantitative evaluation of the knowledge management level for any company and for various types of economic activity. The practical use of the noted integrated assessment allows identifying problematic areas of knowledge management and justifying the feasibility of investing in selected areas. The calculation of the integral indicator creates the conditions for comparing the knowledge management level with the defined criteria: prior period, the level of competitors, industry average, planned (target) level, etc. Ongoing monitoring will allow monitoring the implementation of managerial decisions elaborated basing on the integrated assessment in order to enhance the effectiveness of knowledge management.
