Constant changes in the situation on the industry market and the growth of information requires the leaders of the food industry to use modern advances in science and technology. The most important role is played by economic and mathematical models that ensure the adoption of modern and optimal management decisions.
Every industrial enterprise is faced with the need to solve the problem of delivery of factors of production (resources and funds) or finished products simultaneously to several places or to several customers. Therefore, any modern enterprise is a complex dynamic logistics system with feedback and has a well-developed relationship with the external environment, ie timely provision of the necessary factors of production, maximally prepared for the production process, or finished products in the required quantity and range at a given levels of logistics costs.
The article considers the theoretical problems of choosing economic and mathematical models for the logistics of industrial enterprises. Describes the main reasons for the limited use of models in management decisions. The main tasks of economic and mathematical modelling in industrial enterprises and descriptive models are detailed. The process of economic research of logistics functions using economic and mathematical models can be divided into five stages. In the study of supply chains of industrial enterprises, along with balance, optimization, equilibrium, game, correlation-regression models, it is proposed to use models of functional-cost analysis, simulation, deterministic, scholastic, optimal location and determination of effective size of enterprises. In the logistics activities of industrial enterprises should use the method of systematic mathematical modelling of economic processes, which operates as a means not individual economic and mathematical models, and complexes of logically, informationally and algorithmically interconnected models.
Key words: economic-mathematical model, modelling, classification, logistics, industrial enterprises.
